Lola Rennt

An interesting film, although quite short at 81 minutes (was it even that long). The story covers a mere 20 minutes, but is engaging enough. The premise of the story is that Lola receives a call from her boyfriend (Manni) who has been conducting some dodgy business which has gone wrong when he left 100,000 marks in a bag on the underground. The film is about Lola's attempts to help him, and plays out 3 possible scenarios. The soundtrack is rather techno heavy, but fit the film well; keeping up with the high tempo action. The camerawork leaves a bit to be desired, and some scenes seem to have been filed with poor quality stock, I'm not sure if it was intentional or not. The underlying theme seems to be how the smallest interractions can have unimaginable consequences. It's all very existential. I like the idea, although it is rather "Sliding Doors". I also like the ending which is left open and is refreshing compared to the usual closure that Hollywood demands.

The subtitles were decent, I usual prefer them to dubbing.

In conclusion, German women are very needy but can run fast and generate large sums of money at zero notice. Avoid pillow talk with them.
